A short story about the glue that sticks memory in the mind

Last weekend I saw the movie Silver Linings Playbook. In my opinion it’s the best movie of 2012.
A few sentences I could share with you about it would do NO justice to this remarkable film. Instead, let me tell you a few words about something else. In your opinion, why is that people remember certain movies and/or stories for years, even decades? What’s the glue that holds some movies and/or stories in a person’s memory for years, even decades?

If you’re not sure, here’s a hint: when you go to movies, do you ever observe people at a theatre watching a movie? If not, try it sometime. Your life will be richer for the experience. Why? Because if the movie is any good, you’ll notice people laughing out loud, crying, etc. And right there and then you’ll also ‘see’ the glue that sticks memory in the mind for years, even decades. Its name is emotion. Surprised? Probably not.
